Why Calypso?
If you’re reading this, it means you wanted to do a little bit of digging on this new product called Calypso. Maybe you are a parent or guardian to children. Maybe you’re a grandparent, or a mentor, or a coach. Maybe you run a homeschool co-op, or teach in a traditional school. And maybe you’ve encountered all the same problems with streaming services that we have.

Streaming services (YouTube included) relentlessly promote other content on the platform.
They auto-play the ‘next video’ in a stream, even if you’re not interested.

You probably have specific examples in mind that go beyond these simple categories, and that is the exact problem Calypso solves. We don’t simply apply a filter based on categories or ages or anything else: the only media available to your kid (or the members of your account) is what you’ve approved.
How does it work?
Calypso is the best streaming media curation tool available. It allows the parent (administrator) to easily set up kids’ profiles, and populate those profiles with approved channels, shows, or movies, from across all your streaming services. And that’s it. It’s that simple.
When a kid logs in to their profile, the only media they will see is what has been approved by the parent (admin).
What are some of the other features?
No Auto-Play: when a video is over, it returns the user to their profile page.
No Suggested Media: no streaming platform can suggest or promote other media to a kid’s profile.
Walled Garden: once a kid’s profile is opened, they cannot leave the application on that device without an administrator password. This prevents the kid from simply leaving the app and going to another on that device.
Combines YouTube and all major streaming services: Keep from jumping around from app to app looking for a specific show.
